Azulev Grupo has obtained the ETA (European Technical Assessment) for KERFLOAT, the floating paving kit installed dry with prefabricated and tongue and groove ceramic pieces of varnished earthenware porcelain and elastomeric sheets. It may be applied on internal paving with residential and commercial traffic.

CHARACTERISTICS

Rapid

KERFLOAT is the innovative and simple floating ceramic paving, with a self-installation system that allows rapid laying without works or rubble. It is a unique, exclusive and ingenious solution, for new works and restoration of internal paving in record time.

Sustainable

The lower substrate is made of an elastic material and fully recycled material, it is our contribution to environmental responsibility and sustainable construction.

Insulator

The specical technological composition of KERFLOAT includes acoustic insulation in the floating paving itself, improving work resources and eliminating acoustic bridges.

INSTALLATION
  • 1 Preparation of the surface
  • 2 Layout
  • 3 Installation of the tiles
  • 4 Sealing joints

1 Preparation of the surface

The surface to be recoated shall be completely levelled. With slopes greater than 1 mm per metre, it is essential to level them in advance.

If laying the KERFLOAT on pre-existing ceramic paving, it is necessary to avoid flaps, jutting and lack of surveying. It is also necessary to avoid hollows and cavities due to previous installations. It is possible to use cement as a glue to achieve correct levelling.

2 Layout

The layout prior to the installation of KERFLOAT must be carried out such that the male fittings are free to receive the female fittings of the contiguous tile, lay some pieces on the ground without removing the protective paper, to lay out and design the construction and aesthetic arrangement.

Next, install KERFIX, a double-sided self-adhesive fibre-reinforced acrylic tape on the entire perimeter of the room, with a separation of 15 mm from the vertical parameters; the function of the tape is to set the paving and hold the pieces of the perimeter cuts.

3 Installation of the tiles

The first row of tiles shall be supported and pressed on the perimeter tape KERFIX, leaving a space of 5 mm between the tile and the wall. We shall lay the subsequent rows successively, removing the protective paper from the fittings and pressing the pieces. It is recommendable to use 1 mm crossheads, to favour the alignment of the paving.

The cuts of the tiles on corners, pillars, etc., shall be carried out dry with a diamond cutter and subsequently the KERFLOAT sheet shall be cut with a cutter. In the event of having a water jet cutter, we may use it in order to dry the pieces before they are lain.

4 Sealing joints

For sealing the tile-to-tile joints, one must use the grout KERASTIC.

KERASTIC is a water-repellent, thixotropic and bacteriostatic filler for sealing ceramic tile-to-tile joints which is coloured and ready for use. Once it has hardened, it acquires excellent adhesion and high elasticity. Especially designed for the floating ceramic paving KERFLOAT.
